Andrea Cundell Ceramics
Andrea's ceramics are mainly slab built; each piece has been rolled flat by hand, often textured or patterned, before assembling the originally designed piece.
Andrea is very interested in the soft clay's ability to be impressed and textured then distorted, she says, "I want to create curves and contours that light and shade play upon and that one just can't resist touching".
Andrea's love of nature and a keen interest in design have inspired a sense of pattern and texture that has become the hallmark of her decorative work.
Andrea's ceramics are selling in galleries nationwide including The Laing Gallery, Newcastle, Rufford Craft Gallery, Nottinghamshire, and The Moreton Gallery in the Cotswolds. Locally, Andrea exhibits with Brigantia and sells at Made In Yorkshire events in York City Centre.
Andrea also supplies the following galleries: Percy House Gallery, Cockermouth, Dotty Gallery, Twyford, Leicestershire, and Clementine Home and Gifts, Edinburgh.
Andrea is an enthusiastic teacher of ceramics at The Mount School in York.
